REAL WEDDING {Erin & Hayden, 1.7.17} SNOW PERFECT

Wedding season is upon us! Before we dive in to summer, let’s look back on one of our January 2017 weddings. Erin and Hayden held our first wedding of the year with a ceremony and reception in the Yellowstone Ballroom on January 7th. Here is a sneak peek from their big day!

{Love at First Sight} It may have been love at first sight, but their love story took time to develop. Erin said, “Hayden and I met in high school. I had a big crush on him freshman year but we didn't start going out until after we graduated.” Time makes the heart grow fonder!

{Perfect Proposal} Most brides dream of the day they will get engaged, so when it comes to seeing him down on one knee, they lose themselves in the moment. The same can be said for Erin and Hayden, “He proposed on December 30th, 2015 at the ice rink in the rail yard. Neither of us remember what he said but it was perfect!”

{Why Wilderness Ridge} Wilderness Ridge turns into a winter wonderland during our December and January weddings. It was the perfect fit for what Erin had in mind, as she explains, “The room at Wilderness Ridge was exactly what we wanted. It was the perfect size and the decor of the room was what we were looking for.”

{Memorable Moment} Your wedding day flashes by in the blink of an eye, but there are always memorable moments to reflect on. Erin reminisced, “My favorite part of the day was the first time I saw Hayden in his tux. He looked so handsome!”

{First Look} The first look is a special moment that requires a special setting. Erin walked me through their first look, saying, “We did a first look right outside of the ballroom on the patio. Hayden stood by the fireplace and was turned towards the golf course. I walked out of the door and he turned around to see me.” Sweet and simple!

{Picture Perfect} Hundreds of pictures are snapped on your wedding day. How in the world do you choose your favorites? For Erin, it was easy. She said, “Our favorite pictures are the ones of us outside. I love snow and am so glad there was snow on the ground for our wedding!”

{Something Sweet} A fun way to show your personalities on your wedding day is to have a groom’s cake. Erin explained, “We did have a groom's cake! It was from Tasteful Indulgence and it looked so awesome. It was a life ring that said “USCG United States Coast Guard.” It was a peanut butter cake with chocolate fondant. It was supposed to taste like a Reese's. I heard it tasted so delicious but I didn't get any of it!”

{Wanderlust} For some, the honeymoon comes right after the wedding, while others wait to celebrate. Erin said, “We unfortunately did not get to go on a honeymoon because he is in the coast guard and we had to get back home. But we are planning one for New Year's Eve! We're not 100% sure where we want to go for our honeymoon, but we're looking at Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic right now.” Sail away!

Happy Anniversary!

Spring is here! The grass is growing, trees are budding, and excitement is building for wedding season. As we anxiously wait for warmer weather, let’s reflect on some unique details from our April 2016 weddings.

Jared & Nikki Dean {04.08.16} Jared and Nikki opted to have their ceremony in the ballroom before transitioning into the reception. During the room flip, wedding-goers indulged in appetizers and refreshments upstairs in the Bitterroot and Loft. Back inside the ballroom guests dined, toasted and reminisced while watching a slideshow celebrating the new Mr. and Mrs. Dean! [T K Photography]

Kurtis & Kylee Doremus {04.09.16} Kurtis and Kylee said, ‘I Do’ on the Wedding Island on a gorgeous spring day! Then, the newlyweds shared a celebratory drink with their bridal party before entering the reception. Guests dined on grilled chicken with a creamy cordon bleu sauce and our signature chipotle rubbed pot roast with au jus. They ended the night with beats by Complete Weddings + Events! [Ben Ramos Photography]

Ryan & Danielle Champoux {04.16.16} Ryan and Danielle had a magical ceremony on the Wedding Island, complete with the sounds of Harris Music Academy and a ceremonial release of doves. Once inside, the bridal party took a moment to relax in the Champion’s Lounge before making their big entrance to kick off the reception. Everyone danced the night away! [Complete Photography]

Kyle & Emily Pankoke {04.16.16} Kyle and Emily chose to have an intimate ceremony around our main pond, followed by dinner in the Flathead room. Guests chose between our lodge burger, salmon, flat iron steak and prime dip, while celebrating the newlyweds. Surrounded by their closest family and friends they toasted to new beginnings!

Ron & Rachel Gleason {04.23.16} Ron and Rachel turned our ballroom into something from a fairytale, with a little help from Blooms and Bouquets. Following their romantic ceremony on the Wedding Island, the bridal party boarded a trolley to take on the town, while guests enjoyed cocktails and conversation in the ballroom. It was a night filled with dancing, laughing, and love! [J.Swim Photography]

Laramie & Kristin Lundgren {04.30.16} Laramie and Kristin also had a beautiful ceremony on the Wedding Island, followed by appetizers in the ballroom. Later in the evening, guests hit up the S’mores Station and roasted marshmallows in front of the fire while the bride and groom snuck away to take ‘Golden Hour’ pictures with Lane Photography. It was a perfect April night! [Lane Weddings]

A Video Lasts a Lifetime, Featuring Infinite Productions

A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a thousand more. A lot of time goes into planning a wedding, yet the day is over in the blink of an eye. Videography is a great way to capture all the special moments to reflect upon for years to come. If you are in the market for a wedding video, Andi Sweeney, owner of Infinite Productions, is your gal!

How does one get started in the business of videography? For some, it is unexpected! Andi explains, “It all started with my brother’s wedding back in 2013. They had asked me to make the slide show and after doing some research, I decided to do an interview type/love story video. It is crazy to think I used the camera on my computer to record them! After the wedding, I had several people ask me if I could do something like that for their wedding and low and behold, Infinite Productions was born. I asked my husband for a small loan to buy equipment and officially started in June of 2014 and did about 8 weddings that year!”

Andi has since perfected her trade, as Infinite Productions focuses solely on video. She said, “I try to specialize and grow with each wedding I do - finding creative angles to shoot and always researching and updating my equipment.”

However, she doesn’t stop at weddings! Andi shared, “Not only do I do weddings, I also do commercial projects. A popular request lately has been ‘harvest films’ which captures the story of different family’s harvest season and the history behind their farm. These are particularly cool, especially in Nebraska where farming is a big part of life, in the sense that I get to go out and meet many hard-working farmers and film what they do. Using many cameras, including drone footage, I can capture their story. I did 15 different harvest films this past season and have gotten requests for many this coming year so far!”

No matter the occasion, videos transcend generations and share your story for years to come. Andi explained, “I came up with the name ‘Infinite Productions’ because I felt that films are something that last forever.  A wedding day goes by in the blink of an eye and when you have something that you can forever re-live, not just snapshots, but actual footage of your soon-to-be husband seeing you for the first time, your grandpa laughing, and hearing your actual vows… that is something that can be forever watched again and again, and even passed down generations to come. Infinite.”

Wedding planning takes a lot of work, so Andi tries to keep her booking and planning process relatively easy for the bride and groom. She said, “Usually brides contact me via my WEBSITE when they are looking for a videographer. My website is great in the fact that everything is spelled out for them, packages and pricing. I also meet one-on-one with many couples to go over their day and what things they want filmed particularly.”

Once the big day arrives, the excitement begins! She gave me a run-through of a typical day, saying, “Wedding days are go, go, go. We usually start filming in the morning when the bride is getting ready. It really helps when couples have an agenda that they go by for the day. It helps keep everything on schedule and organized. I love shooting at multiple locations. When a bride gets ready one place, the ceremony is at another and then the reception. I feel it helps tell a better story. I love the fact that Wilderness Ridge offers that, but all in one place!”

She went on to explain, “90% of packages booked are same day edits, meaning we film from getting ready all the way through the end of the ceremony and then take that footage and edit it on the spot to be shown at the reception a few short hours later. It is crazy and I love it! Like I said before, wedding days go by so fast, so I love when the couple sits down with all their friends and family at the reception and take 10 minutes to re-live the day. It is a special thing to see.”

Wilderness Ridge was lucky enough to see Andi in action when Infinite Productions participated in our 2016 Wedding Crash. The bridal party started at Kiss and Makeup before arriving onsite for pictures. Reflecting on the event, she shared, “My favorite part of the Wedding Crash was meeting all the vendors. So many creative, amazing people were brought together in that one day to show what they do best, which in turn gave the couple a dream wedding experience. And you just can’t go wrong with the venue!” Make sure to check out the same-day edit from the Wedding Crash! VIEW VIDEO

Andi concluded, “I think my favorite part of my job is that I never do the same thing twice. The weddings are always different and evolving and I am always changing things up with film and editing. The couples and people that I have met along the way have truly been the best. You know weddings are a happy time and I love that I get to be a part of couple’s happiness!”

REAL WEDDING {Nate & LynnAnn, 12.3.16} Winter Wonderland

Spring is almost here, which means it is time to reflect on one of our winter weddings! On December 3, 2016, Nate and LynnAnn joined their families with a romantic ceremony and reception in our Yellowstone Ballroom. The unexpected snow added ambiance to their wilderness winter themed décor and set the scene for a picture-perfect winter wedding. Here are more details from their big day!

{The Proposal} “He planned nothing. (He always flies by the seat of his pants.) We were going grocery shopping on a Monday night, but he begged me to stop at Holmes Lake first so he could take pictures of "the sunset". In reality, there was no sunset, just clouds. When we got to the lake, he convinced me to get out of the car and come sit on the rocks while he took pictures. He was actually setting up his camera on a tripod pointed at me, and then he got down on one knee and proposed.”

{Why Wilderness Ridge} “We love the outdoors, we love cabins, and even though it was a snowy December wedding, we still felt like we were outside in the wilderness.”

{First Look} “We did the first look right inside the front doors of Wilderness Ridge. Nate was waiting at the top of the stairs, facing the bar, while I came upstairs from the locker rooms. Nate says it was absolutely terrifying, but in retrospect, the anticipation was so exciting!”

{Winter Wonderland} “At first we wanted a fall wedding and neither of us ever imagined getting married in the winter. Thanks to Husker Football season however, that is kind of impossible to do in Lincoln. In retrospect, we could not have chosen a more perfect and beautiful time to get married. The big white snowflakes that were falling the entire day perfectly set the scene for our wedding."

{Picture Perfect} “We LOVE the picture taken outside in front of the big main doors of Wilderness Ridge.  All of our guests ranted and raved about how much they LOVED the giant Christmas tree in the main entry and the pictures taken in front of it turned out amazing. Side note... almost all of the Christmas cards we have received from friends and family have a picture in front of that giant Christmas tree.”

Happy Anniversary!

Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but love is still in the air for these sweethearts! Here are some special memories from our February and March 2016 weddings.

Shane & Alyssa Cullinan {02.06.16} Shane and Alyssa spent their day reminiscing and capturing photographs at their alma mater, Nebraska Wesleyan University. For their reception, they enjoyed a buffet dinner of turkey and pot roast before throwing it back to their childhood with a s’mores station in front of the fire. [Grant Watkins Photography]

Derek & Emma Steinacher {02.13.16} Derek and Emma had a romantic church wedding prior to their reception at Wilderness Ridge. Following dinner, they toasted their marriage with a specialty drink created from Captain Morgan, salted caramel, Frangelico, ½ and ½, Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur and garnished with a chocolate drizzle. As they departed, party-goers grabbed their favor, a pair of handwarmers, to brave the cold! [The Leeker’s Photography]

Justin & Jessie Hart {02.20.16} Justin and Jessie utilized the entire building for their elegant ceremony and reception. During cocktail hour in the restaurant, the newlyweds snuck away for a private moment before re-entering the party to socialize with guests during dinner. Following the meal, wedding-goers went across the hall to the Flathead room where there was an array of cupcakes and wedding cake to choose from. [Muller’s Photography]

Ryan & Asia McCoy {03.05.16} Ryan and Asia had an intimate ceremony in front of the fireplace in the Flathead room before moving upstairs for their reception. They warmed the hearts of their guests through their stomachs with a hot chocolate station and a be-your-own-barista station, where individuals concocted their perfect cup of joe! With newfound energy, the party danced the night away. [Ariel Fried Photography]

Levi & Britney Derickson {03.12.16} Levi and Britney had a picture-perfect day. After fueling up on our house-made pizza and wings, it was time to ‘say cheese.’ From getting ready, to the emotional first look, to the romantic ceremony, and all the subtle details in between. With the help of Addie Poe Photography, every moment of their big day was captured! Now they have snapshots of memories that will last a lifetime. [Addie Poe Photography]
